Picture
Urban Adventure Squad returns to Stokes East End
Urban Adventure Squad (UAS, www.urbanadventuresquad.org) is a DC-based, 501 (c)(3) nonprofit education organization that supports working families and schools with community-based, outdoors-focused learning programs.

WHAT: Thanks to a grant partnership and funding from Mayor Bowser's office, Urban Adventure Squad is offering FREE Friday afternoon programs via Zoom
WHO:
Stokes East End students in kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade
WHEN: Fridays, 1:15-2:15pm
WHERE: Zoom

2021 Schedule of Friday afternoons with UAS

February 5, 12, 19, and 26
March 12, 19, and 26
(no program March 5, DCPS is closed and UAS is running in-person programs in Rock Creek Park)

April 9, 23, and 30

May and June dates will be announced soon.

These interactive Friday afternoon programs offer your children opportunities to socialize, play, create, explore, and get physical activity during live, online sessions led by experienced UAS educators. Projects and games will encourage students to take breaks from looking at the screen, create with simple supplies like paper and pencil, and move their bodies during fitness challenges and scavenger hunts. These programs will be virtual until conditions are safe for school to reopen.

Now accepting kindergartners!

Stokes East End families must register their students for these FREE programs through the UAS registration system because Urban Adventure Squad is required to report data on registration and attendance to the grantors. Registration requires creating an account or logging into a preexisting account in our system, powered by UltraCamp. Once you're logged in and select Make a Reservation, you'll see the Stokes East End programs clearly labeled. Select the programs you wish to register for, complete the registration process, and you're all set! We'll email registered families the Zoom link for that day's program on Friday mornings.

NEW FAMILIES, please read before creating an account:
N
ow that we're in a new calendar year, our registration system asks for your student's grade "in fall of 2021." This is because UltraCamp is mainly meant for summer camps, not year-round programs like ours. Summer camp registration generally goes by the "rising" grade, or the student's grade in fall of the next school year. When asked for your child's grade in fall of 2021, you would (for example) select 2nd grade for your current 1st grade student. This would let the system know they are currently in 1st grade and UltraCamp will automatically graduate them in June to 2nd grade. This allows you to register your current 1st grader for school year programs open to 1st grade students and summer programs open to 2nd grade students.
