Volunteering with UAS

Are you a high school student who would like to earn service learning hours with Urban Adventure Squad?

We welcome high school volunteers throughout the year!
SPRING BREAK and SUMMER WEEK-LONG PROGRAMS

Registration opens Tues., Jan. 27, at 8:00pm

We have three volunteer spots per week. Please join the waitlist if a program you'd like to volunteer at is full.
We will keep an eye on registration numbers and determine if there are weeks where we can welcome additional High School Volunteers.

Please log into your UltraCamp account and
register.
*
If your family doesn't have an UltraCamp account, please ask your parent or guardian to create one. An adult's name and contact information should be the Primary Contact and account holder and you should be listed as a child of the Primary Contact on the account. UltraCamp is our registration system and is how we access all of your emergency contact, allergy, and other important information.

High School Volunteers (HSVs) are responsible for showing up to programs prepared and on time. HSVs bring energy, warmth, and kindness to the Squad by greeting Squad members as they arrive, leading activities during free play time, assisting with snack time and transitions between activities, and keeping Squad members entertained who might be otherwise bored, tired, or uninterested in the activity at hand. Squad members look up to HSVs and enjoy getting your guidance as they learn to orient with a compass, practice collecting specimens to study, or craft a new type of friendship bracelet.

To enhance your engagement and leadership skills, HSVs develop and lead 1-2 activities during each week that you're volunteering. These activities should last about 30 mins and can be a craft, skill, game, or science experiment. The activity can directly relate to the week's topic or simply be something you're already passionate about and love. This is your chance to share your expertise!

All registered HSVs will receive an email in early May with more information about activity development and a due date to submit activity descriptions. That gives the UAS team time to review your activities, ask for any edits, find the right place to fit them into the flow of the week, and purchase your supplies. The research and development time you spend creating the activities should be included in the SSL hours you earn.

All High School Volunteers are required to attend an in-person orientation in early June.
